A Wyoming witness at Midwest reported watching a green, glowing ball about the size of a basketball hovering near a campsite, according to testimony in Case 95874 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was camped 15 miles west of Midwest and was staying in a canvas tent at 9:53 p.m. on October 16, 2018.

“I couldn’t sleep and was sitting in my truck when I saw two large, saucer-shaped craft moving vertically in unison on the horizon,” the witness stated. “I then noticed a green glowing object about the size of a baseball, within 50 yards of me. There was something resembling a bag of about two feet in length below the ball, but I could never get a clear look at it.”

The witness watched this object which was moving within 40 to 400 yards of the tent for nearly one hour.

“I tried repeatedly to figure out what this object was doing, with no success. It would go from hovering to vibrating to moving very fast, seemingly at random and with no discernible purpose. I remember saying aloud to myself, ‘this cannot be real.’ As if it heard me or read my thought, it immediately moved east approximately 400 yards, then returned to hover over me at approximately 40 yards.”

The witness recalls the object’s movement as a “blur.”

“I remember saying aloud, ‘okay, you’re not fake.’ It hovered there for a moment, and this was the only time during the encounter that I felt uneasy or threatened. Shortly thereafter it returned to its random movements.”

The witness then returned to the tent to wake up a hunting partner, but with no luck.

“I returned to my truck and this is where my memory stops. I woke up in my sleeping bag the next morning. My hunting partner asked if I’d tried to wake him saying something about lights? I told him it was nothing, just a meteor. At that point I was sure he wouldn’t believe me. I have a feeling of losing time and memory. My eyes were irritated and red for two days afterward. My throat and mouth were extremely sore for four or five days, and my lower lip appeared burned, turning white, then peeling, with five small scabs on it. My ears also rang for several days. I have never had any previous UFO experiences and this episode has left me quite unnerved.”

Wyoming MUFON State Director Richard Beckwith and Field Investigator Gregory Vasquez closed this case as an Unknown – Other.

“Based on the initial witness statement, 2two large saucer craft were first seen, then a green orb that moved quickly from 40 to 400 feet from the witness,” Beckwith and Vasquez stated in their report. “The area was reported to be about 15 miles west of Midwest, WY, which is both remote and isolated. The time of the sighting is being roughly approximated to be 9:35 p.m. for the purpose of weather data, due to the report stating that the friend of the witness was sleeping in the tent at the time. There are a number of airports around that area, and without further information from the witness, the two saucer-like craft cannot be verified as potential conventional aircraft or unknown aerial vehicles (UAVs).  The focus of this investigation is based on the green object or orb, which was close to the witness and therefore likely better identified by him.  Due to the remoteness of the location and the close proximity to the witness, the object was not likely a drone, which would be heard.

“The physical effects may be coincidental to the sighting, but without further discussion with the witness, are not able to be verified.  Based on the submitted description of the green object or orb, the disposition of the case is Unknown – Other.”

by Roger Marsh

An Iowa witness at Oelwein reported watching a black object with red lights at the tree top level, according to testimony in Case 92591 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was outside having a cigarette about 1:15 a.m. on June 9, 2018.

“I happened to be looking at the sky because I heard like a helicopter noise and I saw a circular-shaped object that had red lights that was flying behind a tree in a straight line,” the witness stated. “I really didn’t have any necessarily feelings about it. Just kind of odd, I guess. I mean I watch UFO shows with that type of thing so I kind of look for the stuff to begin with which is why I’m writing this. But in a way I kind of look like it could have been a drone or something like that. But I’ve never seen one around here and I’ve never seen one fly at night or quite look that way.

Iowa MUFON Field Investigator David Kreiter closed this case as an Unknown Aerial Vehicle.

A Washington witness at Lacey reported watching an object that hovered momentarily before shooting away, according to testimony in Case 96229 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was driving home from work at 6:03 p.m. “in pitch black” on November 7, 2018.

“I was pulling out of the school driveway,” the witness stated, “and I stopped to check for cars. And while stopped at the exit to the school, a green light shot past above my car hovering for maybe a couple of seconds. It had a green unwavering light.”

The witness at first thought it was fireworks.

“But then it was too big and stayed way too long for it to be a firework. It’s also November. The object was long and almost clear but black and then I don’t know where it went. The light vanished and after that I had this feeling one gets after passing out where your whole body feels like it was hit by a truck. And I forgot what I was doing and my whole body felt like Jell-O for the rest of the night. And on my way from dropping my boyfriend off at home I was too scared to drive back home at night.”

Washington MUFON State Section Director Aleta DeBee closed this case as an Unknown Aerial Vehicle.

An Illinois witness at Saint Charles reported watching a cigar-shaped object moving overhead with lights at both ends, according to testimony in Case 89610 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness and her husband were looking out a front kitchen window about 9:30 p.m. on January 3, 2018, when the incident began.

“Our window overlooks the covered deck, but we like to watch the planes coming and going into and out of the airports in Chicago,” the witness stated. “From the side of the window that I was standing I noticed a bright light and saw a cigar-shaped object with bright lights on the front and back of the object.”

The witness then alerted her husband.

“It moved so fast that by the time I told my husband to move over to my side and up look it had moved out of sight. It appeared to come from the northwest and headed southeast out of sight. It made no sound and was a dark metal color with no light between the front and back lights.”

Illinois MUFON State Section Director James Wolford closed this case as an Unknown Aerial Vehicle.

by Roger Marsh

A New York witness at Mechanicville reported watching a silent, hovering light that shined a light onto the street below, according to testimony in Case 89364 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

“I was up all night with sick kids, so when this happened, I thought my ‘tired’ mind was playing tricks on me,” the witness stated. “I saw a glow of light, light-up my window sill in front of my computer desk. I then looked out of the window to see if someone had pulled into my driveway.”

The witness then noticed a “decent size light” in the sky not too far above the power lines along the street.

“The light was not moving and was very bright white. It only took about a minute or two from the time I started watching it for it to shine a beam of light down on the side of the road. The light beam only lasted a few seconds but afterwards it all went away. No more light and no more beam. I never saw it again. Completely silent. Not a noise at all was heard.”

The next morning the witness went outside to look around.

“I noticed that the snow had fallen everywhere but one spot. A perfect circle of bare grass with snow all around it. It is the weirdest thing.”
New York MUFON Field Investigator Dale Reeck closed this case as an Unknown Aerial Vehicle.

Witness reports UFOs forming semi-circle

http://bit.ly/2Sf2oXSPictureLowell, MA. Credit: Wikimedia Commons

by Roger Marsh

A Massachusetts witness at Lowell reported watching multiple hovering lights that formed a semi-circle, according to testimony in Case 89276 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The reporting witness stated that her husband went outside onto a deck to use a barbeque grill at 5:30 p.m. on January 1, 2018.

“He pointed out a bright light, which appeared to be hovering in the distance, on the left side of our property,” the witness stated. “He then pointed to the opposite side of our property and there were between five-to-seven very bright lights, which also appeared to hovering.”

The witness said that when looking from the right side of their home to the left, the objects were clearly forming a semi-circle.

“Since there were some trees obstructing our view outside, we ran inside to a large window in the dining room on the side of the house. From there, we were able to get a very clear view of the lights to the right of our house. None were moving. All appeared to be hovering. We questioned if they were perhaps planes, but again, they were not moving and there were no additional lights on them. Also, I’m sure planes would not even be allowed that close in proximity to each other. I assume being that close they would be considered in each other’s air space.”

The two sat and watching for about 20 minutes and then the objects abruptly disappeared.

“They did not fly away or dim. They literally just disappeared. My husband took video from inside the house which did not come out good, likely due to the window glare. Shortly after they disappeared (about 10 minutes), another appeared by itself. I took video of this one from our deck. It is not good quality. You can only tell that it is a bright light, but you can plainly see that it is not moving, just hovering. We’re not totally sure what we saw, but these were definitely not planes. Very curious to know if anyone else in the area saw this as well. We live in Lowell, MA. The Concord River is directly to the left of our house.”

Massachusetts MUFON State Director Eric Hartwig closed this case as an Unknown Aerial Vehicle.

Bipartisanship and UFOs…A Chance for At Least One More Agreement in Congress Right Now

http://bit.ly/2TjIirWPictureHarry Reid

“It was one of the easiest sells I ever had to make”, explained Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) in a recent interview with Nevada’s KNFR radio station. He was referring to his approach to then Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK) in 2007, to try to convince him to fund a Pentagon program investigating the UFO phenomenon.

Amidst only a temporary reprieve from the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, there isn’t much that is agreed upon in Congress today. But in this case, just a few years ago, from opposite sides of the political aisle, these two members controlling the military budget instantly found common ground. A third member in charge of military spending was the late Senator Daniel Inouye (D-HI), Medal of Honor recipient and World War II veteran, who also supported the plan.

Also, at that time, Congress was divided on many fronts. Stevens and Reid routinely debated issues on the Senate floor, often with opposing viewpoints. But this was one issue they immediately agreed upon.

According to Reid, Stevens exclaimed to him, “Sign me up.”, and he recounted a mysterious incident he personally had as a pilot with the Flying Tigers of the then U.S. Army Air Force. Reid said Stevens told him he had an “occasion” during World War II where he had a craft that was next to him that he couldn’t “get rid of,” despite “doing everything he could.” He recognized the need to properly address what has continued to be an unknown threat to national security, and an opportunity to further study the science behind it.

The three senior members went on to establish what Reid refers to as an “extremely important study,” also the topic of a December 2017 New York Times article about the Pentagon program. Based on publicized details about the program, it seems to have lasted a few years, but it did not succeed in establishing any formal paths for government reporting, particularly from active duty military personnel witnessing these unusual phenomena.

Stevens’ incident was earlier than, but not unlike, some of the reports collected and analyzed through an early Air Force program called Project Blue Book, currently featured in a new popular series on the History Channel and based on the program’s declassified official memos and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. The program even enlisted physicist J. Allen Hynek, a Professor in the Astronomy Department at Ohio State University, who began the process of gathering measurable, scientific data associated with these events. Project Blue Book, too, only lasted a few years before it closed its doors.

MUFON, the Mutual UFO Network, an independent civilian organization focused on the scientific study of UFOs “for the interest of humanity,” picked up where Project Blue Book left off, and was formed in 1969. It has been conducting its own scientific investigations for the past 50 years, in that time compiling and analyzing over 100,000 individual reports from concerned citizens (who are, of course, also constituents of Congressional member’s states and districts). MUFON has over 4,000 active members worldwide and over 600 trained and qualified field investigators. Among its ranks are scientists, engineers, physicists, and many former military personnel, who acknowledge there is the lack of a formal safe reporting path within the services. Because of military members’ training and technological expertise, they often are the very best witnesses to events such as these, yet, ironically, the military does not allow them to address this possibly grave national security threat appropriately.

Reid believes the Federal Government and Congress need to do more to address this issue and said his very next call following the radio interview was to be with a very senior member of the Senate, in order to arrange for him to hear directly from some of these military pilots who feel compelled to tell somebody what they’ve seen. “What we’ve found in the past, is that these pilots are prone not to report it,” due to ridicule and penalty by their superiors, if they do make a formal report. “Many times, they don’t say a word,” Reid explains, or it may even affect their promotion opportunities.

So, how does a military member discern what to report and what not to report?  It is no secret that the military consistently tops an annual Gallup poll for the most trusted organizations. In effect, by not allowing open and honest military reporting, we are also forcing the most trustworthy citizens we have to lie about what is actually happening. Many of these unexplained aerial phenomena occur near military installations and operations, which presents even more of a threat to our national security. And considering the technological advancements worldwide, shouldn’t we care to determine whether the unexplained event is extraterrestrial in nature, or represents possibly a danger from an unfriendly country? Either way, these events are also happening in our own controlled airspace.

Former Senate Intelligence Committee Professional Staff Director and past United States Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, and later for Security and Information Operations, Christopher Mellon poses similar questions in his Washington Post article of March 9, 2018 entitled “The military keeps encountering UFOs. Why doesn’t the Pentagon care?” The article references several declassified Defense department videos and other recent incidents documenting encounters between military assets and unknown craft appearing to have extremely advanced technological capabilities.

Reid goes on to state, “The facts are that they need a place to report this.” New programs or hearings, Reid explained, would be up to the senior member Senate he would be talking with about it, but Reid continues with some background on his original involvement with the topic. When asked where Reid’s interest in UFOs came from, he immediately replied “Just from the facts…”, followed by a confident chuckle, as if he may even have been surprised he was asked the question. “I think it is something that we can’t ignore…I do believe that the information we have indicates we should do a lot more study,” and “We have hundreds and hundreds of people seeing the same thing.”

Reid’s initial interest in the UFO phenomenon, he explains, came from a suggestion that the country needs to take a closer look by his friend and former colleague and astronaut, the late Senator John Glenn, the first American to orbit the earth, and in his later years, also the oldest astronaut in space. His viewpoints spanned decades of thought on the subject.

Another astronaut who became very outspoken on this issue was the late Dr. Edgar Mitchell, the sixth astronaut to walk on the moon, who claimed in an interview shortly before his death that “UFOs are real.”  In addition to being noted as an accomplished Navy test pilot, an astronaut, and instructor in the astronaut program, he had earned a doctorate of science degree in aeronautics and astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of technology (MIT). In terms of qualifications toward being a reputable witness, Mitchell is certainly at the top of the list. He wrote books about the subject and participated in several documentaries, such as The Phoenix Lights, released in 2005.
Again, referring to the 2007 Pentagon program initiated by Reid, Stevens and Inouye, Reid validated its origins and the need to press ahead. “There was no question, yet what has happened since?” he asked; “The program went nowhere”…but “people now are beginning to see the facts, and that is what I’m going to work.”

When asked about Reid’s home state military base of great interest, Area 51, he appeared to uncouple it from his new push for a military reporting path, and he demurred from elaborating on any sensitive details about our own projects there, while acknowledging some of the programs that arose from the notorious base are now commonplace technologies that we see every day.

MUFON, who has studied UFO technological forensic evidence for half a century, fully endorses Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s call for new measures protecting service members who want to report UFO sightings and information. Senator Reid has performed a great service by alerting the nation to the career ending risks often faced by members of the armed forces in these circumstances, and the value of the scientific information they are able to report. Such protections should be implemented for them without delay.
MUFON is ready to assist in helping to educate both Congress and the American public on the subject, as it continues to study scientific evidence from its own investigations. It also looks forward to studying more about the significant incidents and technologies these military members bravely wish to report.

Addressing the UFO “elephant in the room” is one important bipartisan step that Congress can agree upon now, when it is most needed.

Philadelphia witness had good view of UFO

http://bit.ly/2W3qLWzPictureSouth Philadelphia. Credit: Wikimedia Commons

by Roger Marsh

A Pennsylvania witness at Philadelphia reported watching a hovering orb that eventually flew away, according to testimony in Case 95886 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was in South Philadelphia at 11 p.m. on October 26, 2018.

“I was holding my three-month-old son and looking out my north facing third floor windows,” the witness stated. “There is an airport nearby and I see loads of helicopters and drones, but this was different than anything I have seen in the seven years that I have lived here.”

The witness said he sees many objects from the master bedroom window on the third floor.

“I have five windows that face north, south, and west and I have no curtains since I like to see the city views. What I saw was a large, bright red, glowing orb about 11-30 feet in diameter that hovered erratically and changed colors every 30 to 60 seconds. It changed from completely red to completely green then completely blue. It was red most of the time and I don’t think it was a sequential pattern I believe it was random because I saw more red and green than blue.”

The witness said the orb was flying east, and then it would hover and stay completely still.

“It then changed direction and flew west very quickly and disappeared. The total viewing was about five minutes. I’ve scoured the news and have seen no other accounts of this which is perplexing because there should be multiple witnesses. South Philly is a busy area on a Friday night because of the cheesesteak places that tourists line up at. I’m hoping someone else out there saw this as well.”

MUFON Pennsylvania Field Investigator William Morse closed this case as an Unknown-Other.

1962 Texas UFO encounter detailed

http://bit.ly/2QWDRRNPictureKeizer, Oregon. Credit: Google

by Roger Marsh

An Oregon witness at Keizer reported a 1962 encounter he had as a 13-year-old when a triangle-shaped object hovered just 40 feet overhead, according to testimony in Case 96936 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was outside “hoeing strawberries” across from his home along Windsor Island Road when the incident began.

“It was on a Saturday afternoon around 2 p.m. and towards the last part of May or early June,” the witness stated. “School was not out for the summer yet. I was alone in the field when I heard a buzzing, humming noise that gradually grew louder. And the first thing I thought of was that a swarm of bees was heading my way. My father always told me to hit the ground and lay flat if we heard a buzzing noise because it could be a swarm of bees, and that was just what I did.”

The witness assumed the sound was the result of bees.

“I didn’t think to look for them until I was laying on the ground, with my hands covering my head, and when I finally did get brave enough to look towards the sound coming from the west, I didn’t see any bees, but the noise kept up and was now coming from above me.”
The witness finally looked up.

“I saw a huge, huge, huge black triangle-shaped object hovering just above me, around a hundred feet or so. It wasn’t moving, but the buzzing, humming sound was still there. Then the object started to come down towards me. I was so scared, I didn’t think to get up and run. I just figured I was a goner, so I just covered my head again, waiting. When I looked up again it had stopped about 40 feet above me. It stayed there for short while and then it turned to my right, tilted up some and moved towards the sky. While it was moving upwards and away from me, it swiveled again towards the east and then it went so fast, that it was gone out of sight, just like that.”

The witness watched the object move away.

“It didn’t leave a trail of exhaust or anything, like our airplanes do sometimes, and it wasn’t noisy like them either. It just had that buzzing, humming noise the whole time. When I got home, I told my Foster Mom what I had seen, and she told me to never tell anyone about what I saw. I didn’t for a while, but then I ended up telling just my siblings, and then as the years passed, I told a few other people as well. I hadn’t heard or known anything about UFOs back then, but when I did hear about them years later, I do believe that it had to have been one, since we didn’t have anything like that back then that could do what it did.”

Oregon State Director Tom Bowden investigated and closed this case as an Unknown Aerial Vehicle.

“The witness is reporting a close encounter that she experienced in 1962, when she was 13 years old,” Bowden wrote in his report. I cannot find any reason to doubt her sincerity. In my interactions with her, she seemed entirely rational, credible and sincere. This close encounter with a large object for about 10 minutes at a distance of only about 100 feet leaves little room for doubt about the nature of the object the witness observed.  No conventional aircraft could possibly account for what was reported. This case is being closed with a disposition of “Unknown – UAV.”  Assuming her credibility cannot be called into doubt, my confidence in this decision is very high — 95 percent.”

Keizer is a city located in Marion County, Oregon, population 36,478.
